Welcome to the Coonley Art Room! Together, we are going to wander through and explore Art and creativity and see how they relate to you and the world you know. We are also going to observe how engaging in Art can open up our minds to new perspectives and connections to the worlds we don’t yet know! My name is Mrs. Fenker and I will be your cheerleader and guide!

Things to know about Art class and the Art studio at Coonley:
- The Schedule: Art (and all Coonley Enrichments) are on a rotation schedule. This means that each classroom at Coonley will have Art once every SEVEN days. The days are labeled A-G. Your classroom/homeroom teacher will let you know which letter day you have Art. You will have Art on that same letter day, for the entire year.
- “Art” clothes: Remember to wear your “Art” clothes on the day you have Art. It’s best to wear clothes that can get a little dirty. I do have t-shirt smocks and some aprons that you can wear as well.
- Taking home work: Some projects will take a few days to complete, some projects we’ll want to share with others in the school by putting them in the hallways, and some projects we may keep in a portfolio to look at at the end of the year, SO, you won’t always get to take home your work on the day you make it.
- Process over Product: In the Coonley Art Studio, you’ll do lots of different creative activities and projects and some of them will be more about the time you spend exploring and creating and what you learn, and not about the final result. So, that means you may not always have something "finished" to take home that shows what you did.
